Our Potatoes

White's

At Shadybrook Farms, we grow White Superior potatoes. White Superiors are white-skinned, white-fleshed potatoes. Superiors are most commonly used for mashed and baked potatoes. Additionally, white superiors are also good steamed, scalloped, fried, or roasted.

Red's

As for Red potatoes, we grow a variety called "Dark Red Norland" which is a very popular variety of red potatoes. These potatoes have a deep crimson skin and pearly white flesh. Red potatoes are best used for roasting, cooking in soups, boiling, and steaming for potato salad.

Yellow's

We grow a variety of yellow potatoes called Malou's. Yellow potatoes have yellow skin and light yellow flesh. Yellow potatoes are smooth potatoes with a naturally buttery flavor. They are particularly good boiled and fried. Also, yellow potatoes have been shown to be lower in calories and carbohydrates than other potato varieties.

Grain

At Shadybrook Farms, we grow a variety of grains such as wheat, barley, corn, and soybeans. Wheat and barley are harvested in the spring, while corn and soybeans are harvested in the fall. Our grain is sold to local grain elevators which include Mountaire Farms, Amick Farms, Perdue Farms, and Hostetter Grain. Our grain is grown and processed as feed for animals and therefore not available to the general public.
